It is no secret that all county Animal Care and Control is under-funded. Almost all animal welfare organizations are. Couple that, however, with the 10 of thousands lost, homeless, abused, abandoned, surrendered and neglected animals received each year, and the result is an under-funded and over-crowded crisis. Unfortunately, this has resulted in the deaths of thousands of loving animals each year.
How will 4-H help?
Our group hopes to rescue dogs who are in danger of euthanasia from high-kill shelters. By working with Animal Outreach of the Mother Lode, committed volunteers and 4-H families, we will provide these dogs with loving temporary care, training, socialization and then find them well-matched forever homes. We will also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.
