The restrooms in the livestock area at the Placer County Fairgrounds were in bad condition. Some of the faucets and toilets were not in working condition and the stalls and walls were grungy. We wanted to clean them up before fair so the public and fair participants would be able to enjoy clean working restrooms.
What has 4-H done?
Over a period of several weekends and a few afternoons, Flatlands 4-H members and families cleaned, primed, and then painted both the men’s and women's restrooms. We purchased two new toilets, one seat and flush valves. Broken shower fixtures, generously donated by TW Smith Co. Plumbing Company, were also replaced. After all the plumbing was repaired and the wall painting done, we then washed, prepared and painted the cement floors. We put up new restroom signs, painted the 4-H and FFA logo in a restroom and hung our plaque stating that the renovations were done by Flatlands 4-H.
Our members learned how to paint and are very proud of the job they did. We heard many compliments from families and fair management about how wonderful the restrooms look.
