The Adopt-a-Bin for Foster Children project will entail collecting and compiling basic supply kits for foster children who must be moved or relocated on short notice. These events are very disruptive and traumatic, especially when there is not time to pack personal items. In our small county with few foster parents, the children frequently must be placed far away and are further unable to retrieve personal items. Our project is a simple but effective way for the community to support the children in this situation, allow them more dignity, and hopefully reduce one stressful aspect of the transition. We will compile basic kits for a minimum of 12 boys ages 10-17 that include clothing, personal care items, school supplies, and a duffle bag to carry with them.
How will 4-H help
We will compile basic kits for boys ages 10-17 that include clothing, personal care items, school supplies, and a duffle bag to carry with them. The project will also raise awareness in the community of the need for local foster parents.
